Sandy Cohen was born in Israel and raised in New York City. She is formally trained in various mediums including oil paint, water color, mixed media, sculpting and photography. At the age of eight, Sandy was the youngest student at a college program located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her skills were so advanced that the instructor asked her to teach the remainder of the workshop. This led her to sell her first piece at the age of thirteen. She was granted admission to Fashion Institute of Technology at the age of fourteen. She completed her High School studies at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art. After graduation, Peter Max expressed interest in Ms. Cohen as a young artist. Shortly before her twentieth birthday, Sandy became sick with a chronic autoimmune illness. She uses a wheelchair intermittently and this has shaped her artistic viewpoints. Sandy Cohen’s works have been exhibited in art shows, galleries, and fairs nationwide. In 2017, her work was exhibited by the Oliver Cole Gallery at Art Basel Miami. Sandy’s art can be currently viewed at the Museo Casa Del Arte Y La Cultura De Santa Fe in Medellin, Colombia. Her collectors include the Stern Family and the Royal Family of Morocco. She is inspired by the complex experiences of human emotions and the unmasking of our current illusions. This can be found in her various pieces and each shares a different story.
